Nexus Actuarial is the independent health and welfare practice of Michael Elliston, ASA, MAAA, FCA. The firm provides actuarial pricing and analysis, reserve modeling, GAAP reporting, risk management, valuation, and data analytics consulting for self-insured employers. GASB 75 / OPEB work serves state and local government plan sponsors. The practice is built to hold time, cost, and quality together: AI-assisted production, review that meets actuarial standards, and sign-off from a credentialed actuary.
Principal, Nexus Actuarial
Michael is a health and welfare consulting actuary with 20 years in self-funded medical pricing, IBNR and plan reserves, stop-loss and funding strategy, and GASB 75 / OPEB valuations. He advises employers, health and welfare trusts, brokers, and TPAs.
He did that work as a consulting actuary on the Actuaries Northwest team from November 2010 through June 2023, then at OneDigital after the July 2023 acquisition, through September 2026. He opened Nexus Actuarial in September 2026.
He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. He has completed the SOA Group and Health Design and Pricing exam and related FSA modules, and is sitting the Group and Health Valuation and Regulation exam in October 2026.
